Investees join Online Dialogue on Youth Citizenship

More than 30 young leaders across the Philippines participated in “Usapang Bayanihan,” an online dialogue on youth citizenship on November 30, 2020. The event was hosted by the Obama Foundation Leaders 2019 and InvestEd Philippines as part of their shared mission to build empowered student communities in the country.

During the event, the participants discussed issues in their communities. These issues ranged from team management, such as volunteer burnout and communicating with different age groups and positions of power, to structural issues, such as restricted funding and poor internet access, affecting youth participation.

After sharing these issues, each participant identified support areas needed for student success, specifically for mentorship on career development, building communities and facilitating partnerships.

A key highlight of the event was bringing together student communities to support their fellow leaders. Youth leaders offered their time as volunteers and were more than willing to share knowledge on specialized topics such as in communications, engineering and fundraising.

This event is part of InvestEd’s success coaching program for student borrowers.

InvestEd is the leading provider of education loans to college students in the Philippines. The Success Loan Program helps students get closer to their dreams through a Study Now, Pay Later loan model and success coaching.

The Obama Foundation’s mission is to inspire ordinary people to take action, empower them to change their world for the better, and connect them so they can achieve more together than they can alone.
